About Barbara's Mirror

My first publication in a third grade newsletter, Purple Bunny, was a story about a child who finds a stuffed bunny on Easter morning. I can't decide if I remember the story because it was my first or because it was the only year my Jewish parents allowed me an Easter basket.

I've kept journals ever since, published short stories, poems, and essays. My most recent quest is children's literature, picture books. I joined the Society of Children's Book Writer's and Illustrators and am a member of the California Writer's Club --Redwood and Napa.

Born in Pennsylvania and now living in Northern California, I am married with two sons. During the young mommy time of my life I considered writing to be a hobby. I took writing classes when I needed to do something for myself.

What people don't know about me? I lived in Guam for 12 years. While there, I went to High School and the University. I've also been certified as a bookkeeper by the International Business College of Guam.

After years of course work at the Institution of Life where I majored in Momhood, Husband Management, and Budgetnomics, I returned to a traditional college. In 2003, I earned my Associate of Arts Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences. Algebra is now my friend and I can counsel my pals when they need cheap therapy. However, my older sister has been known to say, Do something with your degree. I did. I hung it on the wall.

It comforts me if I recall advice from a favorite teacher. Write for the joy of writing. Write because it gives you peace.
